What you’ll do

The Sales Specialist demonstrates and sells Precision NanoSystems line of instruments and consumables directly to life science accounts such as pharma, academia, biotech and government as well through distribution. The Sales Specialist will maintain account ownership for development/execution of all sales programs and overall account development. This includes working with existing accounts as well as prospecting for new accounts and customers, developing and closing new business to increase sales of PNI products.

  • Support the team to meet or exceed sales targets assigned via direct sales activities with customers, and by collaborating with other sales team members, product line specialists and technical specialists.
  • Analyze and articulate customer and market needs, prospecting all categories of NAT customers from translational discovery, PD to manufacturing including CMOs, developing deep relationships with key customers and managing opportunities in collaboration with the sales organization to meet and exceed sales goals.
  • Consult and gain credibility with customers on the appropriate solutions to propose when moving between research through clinical to marketed applications.
  • Ensure effective communication between sales specialists, Inside Sales, Field Applications Scientist, etc. Leverage existing relationships of the broader BioPharma sales representatives.
  • Manage a sales funnel; grow the funnel through customer interactions and cross-functional collaboration. Update opportunities as they progress through the funnel. Ensure regular health and upkeep of the funnel.
  • Assist leadership in the creation of KPIs to track sales performance and funnel health against orders targets.
  • Support the PNI leadership to advance new application areas and markets as we add further depth to our business. He/she/they will also be responsible for assisting leadership in streamlining processes and overseeing the global sales teams and help guide sales strategies globally.
  • Support the growth and architecture of building effective teams within the PNI organization by utilizing DBS to ensure the continued development of the global sales organization.
  • Position, present and demonstrate expertise within the portfolio of products in the clinical space. Work with our global process development and manufacturing customers in collaboration with technical specialist teams to differentiate PNI technologies from the competition.

  • Frequent regional travels (about 50% depending on location). International travel may also be required.

Who you are

  • BSc. in a Life Sciences discipline is required. A Ph.D. and strong nanoparticle formulation or cell/molecular biology background is an asset.
  • 5+ years of experience in the biotechnology industry.
  • 5+ years of experience in a commercial role, preferably in the biotechnology industry.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting instrumentation, and applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to work directly with Customer at all levels within the organization from Process Development scientist to CEO, CFO.
  • Demonstrated superior problem solving and interpersonal and account management skills in a commercial environment.
  • Demonstrated aptitude towards the selling process and a proven team player.
  • Strong communication skills and experience delivering scientific presentations. Demonstrated written technical writing ability.
  • Ability to complete tasks with minimal direction or supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and relationship management skills and capable of motivating team members on vision, purpose, and superior execution.
  • Must be results and success oriented with proven ability to organize, develop, and follow through on tasks and plans.
  • Prior field experience supporting customers and sales teams in a technical role is preferred.
  • Clear vision of and commitment to providing outstanding customer focus.
  • Self-starter with eagerness to take on challenges, even if foreign. Known for “getting things done.”
  • Solid working experience with MS Office and a CRM database (preferably [please apply online] required as well as sale analysis tools such as QlikView.

Desired Competencies:

  • Demonstrated understanding of nano-particle applications and PNI technologies
  • Success in cross-functional collaboration.
  • Familiarity or experience with DBS is a plus.
  • Experience working in a matrix environment and managing multiple priorities through successful execution.
  • Demonstrated track record with executive level communication skills.
  • Experience training associates on sales processes and business procedures.
